Had I become pregnant at a young age I likely wouldn't have made it this far.

The pill has allowed me to complete my education without unwanted pregnancies. Next week I will graduate from college and continue on to law school. The pill has allowed me to follow my dreams and obtain an education that will help me become a productive member of society. Had I become pregnant at a young age I likely wouldn't have made it this far.

I stopped taking it because I simply couldn't afford it.

At 17 years of age, I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on the pill as a way to regulate and control my period. At 19 I stopped taking it because I simply couldn't afford it. After six months, my ob/gyn discovered cancerous cells on my uterus as a result of missed/un-regular periods. After removal surgery, I started taking the pill again. Now 23 years old, my uterus is still cancer-cell free!

    I was a sexually active, 14-year-old runaway.

In 1970 I was a sexually active, 14-year-old runaway. Though fleeing a bad family situation, I was responsible enough to know I did NOT want to get pregnant. I went to Planned Parenthood and was treated with respect, compassion, and kindness, and  obtained birth control pills. I'm now 54 and a happy mom of two sons, 13 and 14. The Pill literally saved my life.

When our younger daughter became sexually active, she asked me about birth control.

Although I was raised Catholic, when I married in 1966 I decided I didn't want to be pregnant every year. I went to Planned Parenthood, went on the pill, limited our family to two bright, beautiful daughters. When our younger daughter became sexually active, she asked me about birth control. I immediately made an appointment for her at Planned Parenthood. Thank you for being there!

I am so excited to be a mother one day.

I am so excited to be a mother one day. The pill has allowed to me to plan my family for when my husband and I will be able to support our children and the lives we hope to give them. We have so much ahead of us; children are in our future, and the pill has allowed us to prepare for them while we build that future.

The pill allowed me to be active and competitive in sports.

I was given a seven day on, 15 day off heavy period from the age of 14. Birth control allowed me freedom from this burden. The pill allowed me to be active and competitive in sports. Later, when I became interested in young men, the pill allowed me freedom from relying solely on my partner to produce birth control. Birth control also gave my mother a way to speak with me about my sexuality, my body, and my rights as a woman. Planned Parenthood gave me a safe place to get additional answers to my questions.
