North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has hit a new low…literally. Governor McCrory’s approval rating has dropped into the 30’s, but is it really any surprise?
McCrory has done his part to earn these low approval numbers. Whether it was signing into law one of the most severe voter-suppression bills in the country, or blatantly going back on his word to enact terrible new restrictions on women’s health that dramatically restrict access to safe and legal abortion in the state. The fact that 80 percent of voters disapproved of the underhanded tactics used by the legislature to move this bill through probably didn’t help McCrory’s numbers either. Last, but not least, let’s not forget the time he tried to give his constituents cookies, to make up for the fact that he took away their health care.
The answer is pretty simple: if you won’t listen to what your constituents want, they won’t be happy with you.
