Latinos for Planned Parenthood - Elections and Politics

In communities throughout the country, through cafecitos and word of mouth, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund fights every day to advance women’s reproductive health and rights.  With your support, we work to elect candidates who support reproductive justice and immigrant rights at every level and laws and policies that protect women's health.

Right now it is especially critical that Latinos remain informed and involved in the decisions our federal and state representatives are taking. We have seen the election of numerous extremists who share an agenda to outlaw abortion, even in cases of rape and incest. Many of these radical opponents of women’s health and rights will not stop there — they also want to completely repeal the historic health care reform law that promises to provide millions of Americans with access to affordable care.  This would result in the elimination of vital affordable health care from many of our communities.

Who We Are

At Planned Parenthood we are committed to the Latino community. Planned Parenthood health centers across the country serve nearly one million Latinos every year, and for many immigrants, our health centers are their first source of healthcare in the U.S.    Through our Promotoras program, Latinas of various backgrounds educate their communities on the health care services offered by our health centers, including lifesaving cancer screenings and STD testing.  About 82% of all our patients receive services to prevent unplanned pregnancies, and we provide over 3.3 million STD tests each year.

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. We work in the streets, in the states, and in Washington, DC, to advance women's reproductive health and rights. A nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization, the Action Fund engages in educational and electoral activity, including legislative advocacy, voter education, and grassroots organizing. With your support, we strive to elect pro-choice candidates at every level and pass laws and policies that support women's health.
