The Planned Parenthood Action Fund today released a Web video called Drop the Curtain, which highlights Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s out of mainstream records on women’s health.

Watch the Drop the Curtain video HERE.

Gov. Rick Perry is in Richmond, Virginia, today to host a fundraiser with Gov. Bob McDonnell.

Both governors have pushed a radical agenda on women’s health. Notably, both Gov. Perry and Gov. McDonnell declared anti-women’s health legislation as, “emergency legislation” in order to push it through their states’ legislatures faster.

In Texas, Governor Rick Perry signed a budget that makes devastating cuts to women’s health care.  The state budget slashes 66 percent of family planning and women’s health programs, from $111 million to $38 million.  Without these vital funds, many health centers will be forced to close or reduce hours and/or staff, resulting in nearly 300,000 women losing access to care.

In addition, Gov. Perry deemed legislation mandating that a woman seeking an abortion receive an ultrasound as “emergency legislation.”

In Virginia, Governor McDonnell pushed legislation targeting abortion providers that manipulates rules intended for new health care facility construction. The result is that many women's health centers in Virginia may be forced to close, denying tens of thousands of women access to basic health care, birth control and cancer screenings.

This video is part of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund's ongoing effort to educate the public how out of touch both of these governors are on women's health and mobilize people to stand up against their policies.
