San Diego, CA - Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest (PPAFPSW) proudly announced its final endorsements for the March 5, 2024 Primary Election in California. PPAFPSW represents over 5 million residents in its tri-county region – which spans over 16,000 square miles – from San Diego to Riverside to Imperial Counties.
Endorsed candidates are selected based on their sexual and reproductive health care policies, their pledge to expand access to comprehensive sex ed, and their commitment to protecting the health and reproductive rights of all Californians. The full list of endorsements and more information is available at voteforchoice.org/voting.
All endorsed candidates must go through a rigorous endorsement process and meet specific criteria to be considered for an endorsement or 100% Rating from Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest. To be considered for endorsement by PPAFPSW, an incumbent, challenger, appointee, or candidate must support positions in line with PPAFPSW's mission and values; achieve a 100 percent score on candidate questionnaires and legislative scorecards, as applicable; and be a viable candidate. In addition to their determined ability to be champions of reproductive rights, candidates are also asked about their stances on a variety of intersecting issues such as LGBTQ+ rights, policing, immigration, combating white supremacy, and more.
Statement from Darrah DiGiorgio Johnson, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest:
“March 5, 2024 marks a critical opportunity for California voters: the Presidential Primary Election. Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest is proud to endorse and rate local candidates ahead of this important election.
At a time when reproductive health and rights are under attack like never before – it is critical that we vote for candidates who have a demonstrated record, and who will work to protect and expand access to reproductive health care and comprehensive sexual health education. We are confident that these candidates will work hard to create a world where every person has the opportunity to choose their own path to a healthy and meaningful life.
It's crucial that on March 5, we use the power of the ballot box to vote for candidates who will continue to fight for California to remain a safe haven for abortion access and reproductive rights.. Everyone should have the power to make their own personal health care decisions, including if and when to start a family.”
