Now is our moment to come together and fight for abortion access. The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade in its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. This has eliminated the federal right to abortion and endangered the health of millions of Americans by putting abortion rights in the hands of state legislatures.

Abortion is still legal in Iowa today, but the Court’s ruling strikes a shattering blow to the right to access abortion in the United States.

Iowa politicians obsessed with banning abortion are already working on a multi-year attempt to strip Iowans of their state rights to abortion. We must stand together and claim our power to make clear that Iowans need abortion access. We are united in our fight to protect safe, legal abortion in our state.

Here are three actions you can take right now to stand up for abortion rights in Iowa.

1. Register to be the first to know about our rally in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision.

We must march, mobilize, organize, text, call, write, shout—do everything we possibly can to show support for safe, legal abortion. Alongside partners, we are working to organize a rally for supporters across the state in Des Moines. Sign up to be the first to know and spread the word to your friends, family, and community.

2. Become a Super Activist with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Iowa.

Our work wouldn’t be possible without our network of grassroot volunteers committed to protecting reproductive freedom for all Iowans. From urging family and friends to take action, to filling hearing rooms, and rallying at the Capitol and across the state, Super Activists work year-round on Planned Parenthood Advocates of Iowa’s most urgent needs.

3. Fight misinformation and organize on social media by sharing content from Planned Parenthood and partner organizations.

Without federal abortion rights, sexual and reproductive health care will be determined by a confusing patchwork of access. Understanding the changing landscape of abortion access will be especially crucial in the coming weeks. Share accurate and vetted information from organizations doing the work on the ground in your state to fight misinformation in your own network:

Thank you for being in this fight during this crucial moment. United, we will make our voices heard and protect abortion rights in our state.
