On Monday morning the Reproductive Health Access for All Act (SB 6105) had a hearing in the Senate Health and Long Term Care Committee. Legislators heard from two panels on the importance of ensuring that all people in our state have access to the care they need, regardless of gender, gender identity, citizenship status, or income. In that same hearing, the Reproductive Parity Act (SB 6219) was voted out of committee. After more than five years of deliberation on the Reproductive Parity Act, now is the time to pass legislation ensuring abortion access to all Washingtonians, in addition to advancing bills like the Reproductive Health Access for All Act that ensure health care equity for all Washingtonians.

In other exciting news, leadership in both chambers are moving quickly on a wide range of progressive legislation. The Washington Voting Rights Act (SB 6002), sponsored by Sen. Rebecca Saldaña, passed the Senate on Friday, January 19th with a bipartisan vote of 29 to 19! SB 6021, a new proposal by Sen. Patty Kuderer to extend the period for voter registration, was passed by the Senate on a 29-20 vote on Jan. 17th, SB 5722  a bill to ban Conversion Therapy for minors, sponsored by Sen. Marko Liias, passed the Senate on a vote of 32-16 on Jan. 19th, and the Equal Pay Opportunity Act, sponsored by Rep. Tana Senn (HB 1506) was passed by the House on Jan. 17th by a vote of 69-28.
