CHARLESTON, W.V. — Today, Governor Justice amended a previous call for a special session to direct lawmakers to pass legislation related to abortion.
Alisa Clements, Director of Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, issued this statement:
“Any law that strips people of their reproductive freedom does not modernize our state — it drags us backward. No matter your personal view on abortion, we should all agree that the decision of if, when, and how to become a parent should be made by the patient in consultation with their loved ones, their medical provider, and their faith. The governor and state lawmakers have no business criminalizing health care.”
