Birth Control Matters Blog Carnival

A conversation on something as personal as birth control deserves personal voices, perspectives, and input.

On July 21, 2011, we're teaming up with the National Women's Law Center to host a Birth Control Matters blog carnival to discuss birth control accessibility. Bloggers across the web are invited to weigh in on this important issue.

This summer, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is expected to issue a final decision on whether or not health care reform legisation will require new insurers to cover prescription birth control free of charge. On Tuesday, the Institute of Medicine issued a recommendation in favor of this decison. For new health plans to cover birth control without a co-payment would be a major victory for women's health!

More than half of women aged 18–34 say that the cost of prescription birth control has made it hard for them to use birth control consistently. We believe that every woman should be able to choose and use the birth control method that works best for her, without cost getting in the way.

Join the effort to support no-cost prescription birth control! Find out more about Birth Control Matters, and sign up to participate in our blog carnival on the NWLC's website.
