Planned Parenthood Action Fund Responds to First GOP Presidential Debate
For Immediate Release: Aug. 23, 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last night, the Republican National Committee (RNC) held its first presidential debate. Planned Parenthood Action Fund President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson released the following statement:
“As if we didn’t already know these candidates’ warped intent to control our bodies, last night they proudly put their unpopular and nonsensical views on abortion on display. Some even doubled down on their plans to ban abortion nationwide should they get the power to do so. These candidates use the same harmful rhetoric we’ve long heard from anti-abortion politicians and we know that if given the opportunity to lead this country, they will continue to take away our rights and access to essential health care. They are supremely out of touch — and voters know it.
“Planned Parenthood Action Fund will do everything in its power to keep reproductive rights champions President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in the White House. Voters will make sure that not only will anti-abortion rights candidates never have the chance to strip us even further of the freedom to decide our own futures, but that we can ultimately establish a right to abortion for all.”
