New York—Today, Kelley Robinson, the current executive director of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Vice President of Advocacy and Organizing at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, was named the new president of the Human Rights Campaign and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC). Robinson, who has been with Planned Parenthood for more than a decade, will remain with the organization through the 2022 midterms before transitioning to her new role with HRC. She will be the first Black, Queer woman to run the organization.

Statement by Alexis McGill Johnson, President & CEO, Planned Parenthood Federation of America & Planned Parenthood Action Fund

“For more than a decade, Kelley Robinson has worked to build Planned Parenthood’s political, organizing and outreach efforts to engage diverse communities in the fight for reproductive freedom. Kelley’s visionary leadership as the Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s Executive Director propelled the organization's advocacy work and helped build one of the largest, most engaged supporter networks in the country. So many of our rights and freedoms are under unprecedented attack, meaning the fight for reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights and so much more have never been more intertwined. Planned Parenthood is thrilled that the Human Rights Campaign has appointed Kelley to lead in this pivotal moment, and, for me personally, my heart is exploding with pride and awe. We look forward to working with Kelley and HRC to bring our collective power to the fight to protect and expand our freedoms.”

Statement by Joe Solmonese, Planned Parenthood Action Fund Board Chair and former president of the Human Rights Campaign

“Kelley Robinson is a fierce advocate and a selfless leader. I’ve had the privilege of working with her for over a decade and have seen firsthand the impact she’s had on people’s lives as a change agent and an organizer. While I’m sorry to see her leave the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, I’m thrilled that she’s stepping into a job I know well. I couldn’t be more grateful to her for deciding to lead the Human Rights Campaign at such a pivotal moment in our movement’s history.”

Robinson joined the Planned Parenthood community in 2009 as a regional organizer for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland in Des Moines, Iowa. She joined the national office as the national organizing director in 2011, and transitioned to her current roles in the spring of 2019. Robinson was the Board Chair of SisterSong and currently serves on the board of Women’s March.
