Trump Could Drop His Dangerous "Gag Rule" Any Day Now

Trump Could Drop His Dangerous "Gag Rule" Any Day Now

The proposed rule "gags" doctors by prohibiting them from telling women about how and where to access abortion — even if the patient asks. It’s both dangerous and unethical.

The rule makes it crystal clear that the administration is more interested in restricting access to abortion and pushing its ideology on women than it is in protecting their health, livelihood, and freedoms.

How Harmful is a Gag Rule? The Global Gag Rule Shows Us

On January 23, 2017, in one of his first acts as president, Trump reinstated and expanded the global gag rule to restrict abortion access.

Evidence shows the global gag rule leads to increases in unsafe abortion, unintended pregnancies, women dying from pregnancy-related complications, and infant and child deaths.

We should be ending the global gag rule — not importing a version of it to the U.S.
