Emergency abortion care remains under threat

The U.S. Supreme Court refused to decide a case that threatens patients’ access to emergency abortion care.

The good news: The court reinstated a lower court’s order that temporarily blocks Idaho from ignoring federal law and denying emergency abortion care to pregnant patients.

The bad news: The court failed to make clear that federal law protects patients in every state — leaving access to emergency care for pregnant people across the country under threat.
