Who are Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations?

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that engages in educational and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education, to promote and protect women’s health and reproductive rights. The Action Fund was formed in 1989 as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) Inc. PPFA is the umbrella organization for 57 independent, affiliated organizations around the country that provide sexual and reproductive health care, operating under the Planned Parenthood name. Many Planned Parenthood affiliated organizations have related advocacy and political organizations as well. Collectively, Planned Parenthood Action Fund and the dozens of Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations across the country serve as the nation’s leading advocate for Planned Parenthood health centers.
