Today, in a pre-taping for an MSNBC Town Hall, Donald Trump stated that abortion should be illegal and that there would “have to be some form of punishment” for women who had an abortion.

As reported by Bloomberg, Donald Trump, when pressed on his pro-life stance by MSNBC's Chris Matthews, had this to say:

“I am pro-life,” Trump said. Asked how a ban would actually work, Trump said, “Well, you go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places but we have to ban it,” Trump said.

Matthews then pressed Trump on whether he believes there should be punishment for abortion if it were illegal

“There has to be some form of punishment,” Trump said. “For the woman?” Matthews asked. “Yeah,” Trump said, nodding.

Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund on Trump:

“Donald Trump is flat-out dangerous. Women’s lives are not disposable. There’s nothing else to say, as Donald Trump’s remarks today have said it all.”

When asked how a ban on abortion would actually work, Trump admitted women would go to back alleys:

“Well, you go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places but we have to ban it.”

Let's be clear: Trump is dangerous, inciting violence at his rallies and using ugly rhetoric targeting women and people of color in his speeches. And if elected, he would be an absolute disaster for women's health and rights.
