We can count on Joe Biden to fight for our health and rights, and take decisive action to undo the damage of Donald Trump’s presidency. With Biden in the White House and Kamala Harris as vice president, we can rest in the knowledge that a team with experience and compassion is leading our country and working hard to keep us safe.
Trump refuses to slow his attacks on our health care, even amid a national public health crisis. Trump refuses to trust pregnant people — particularly pregnant people of color — to decide what’s in the best interest of their own health. Trump has ruthlessly worked to undermine the right to safe and legal abortion that the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed in Roe v. Wade.
In contrast, throughout his career, Joe Biden has put the country before his own political interest — fighting for working families and working tirelessly to expand access to health care.
The choice is clear. We can’t afford another four years of Trump. We’ve got to give everything we have to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Read on to see why.
As president, Biden would defend safe, legal access to abortion by establishing nationwide protections for abortion that would stand even if Roe v. Wade were overturned by the Supreme Court.
Biden has pledged to help millions of patients regain access to full information about their care by repealing the Trump administration’s dangerous gag rule on Title X — the federal program for affordable birth control and reproductive health care. Biden also says he will defend the Affordable Care Act (ACA)’s requirement that insurers cover birth control without a copay.
Biden fought alongside President Obama to pass the ACA, which provided health care coverage for 20 million previously uninsured Americans.
Biden has promised to protect patients who rely on federal health care programs by stopping efforts to “defund” Planned Parenthood.
Biden’s pandemic response plan calls for no-cost testing, equitable access to care, vaccine development, and increasing the capacity of the country's health care system.
Kamala Harris: A Hero for Reproductive Health and Rights
We know that in the White House, Kamala Harris would work with Joe Biden not to only protect reproductive rights, but also to advance and expand them.
As a candidate, Trump promised to appoint federal judges who would “automatically” overturn Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that affirms safe, legal to abortion. Trump has since appointed more than 200 judges to the federal judiciary — many of whom have records of hostility to reproductive rights.
Trump has stacked his administration and the federal judiciary with appointees who have records of opposing birth control access — such as Judge Sarah Pitlyk, who characterized employer-provided insurance for contraception in a legal brief as “encouraging someone else to commit a wrongful act” and a “grave moral wrong.”
Trump left many patients cut off from access to free or low-cost birth control, STI screenings and treatment, and other basic care with an unethical "gag rule" on Title X — the federal program for affordable birth control and reproductive health care. His rule forced Planned Parenthood health centers and numerous other providers out of the Title X program.
By refusing to take the threat of a pandemic seriously and rejecting scientific guidance, Trump hindered efforts to protect Americans from danger. 200,000 have died, and the health, safety, and economic security of the American people are at risk.
