Senator Russ Feingold

Democrat, Candidate for U.S. Senate

Russ Feingold proved himself to be a champion for reproductive health care when he served as a U.S. senator from 1993 through 2010 — actions that won him a 100% rating on the Planned Parenthood Action Fund Scorecard.

We have no doubt that he will continue to champion women’s health and rights if elected back to the Senate.

Feingold Has Always Worked For The Best Interests of Wisconsin Women And Families

Feingold is running in this election to return to a position he has already held, and to do a job that he was very good at. Let’s take a look at his record as senator:

  • Feingold voted to protect abortion providers and health center staff from protesters who threaten them with violence.

  • Feingold voted for an amendment introduced by then-Senator Hillary Clinton to expand access to family planning services, as part of an effort to reduce unintended pregnancy and improve access to women's health care.

  • Feingold co-sponsored legislation requiring that emergency contraception is available to servicewoman at all military health care facilities.

  • Feingold spoke on the Senate floor to reaffirm his support for Roe v. Wade.

  • Anti-abortion activists once tried — and failed — to recall Feingold over his vote to defeat a law that would have banned a late-term abortion procedure that is the best choice for the patients who have it.

“U.S. assistance to voluntary family planning supports a broad array of products and services for maternal and child health — including family planning education, clinical services, and birth control. These programs have proved enormously effective.”

— Russ Feingold

Russ Feingold's Opponent: Ron Johnson, (R)

Senator Ron Johnson has spent his political career voting against women’s health and rights, and now he wants Wisconsin voters to give his dangerous agenda another go. We won’t let that happen.

“I fully support women’s reproductive rights and access to quality, affordable health care. I firmly believe that we need to do more to ensure all of Wisconsin’s women and their families have the opportunity to flourish.”

— Russ Feingold

Feingold Will Continue to Stand Up for Wisconsin Women And Families

Feingold will protect Planned Parenthood’s ability to deliver affordable health care to millions of patients across the country. This is in stark contrast to his opponent Ron Johnson, who has taken every opportunity to restrict access to birth control and cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood health centers.

Feingold knows that equal pay for equal work is a no-brainer. That’s why he voted for the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, a law that works to close the wage gap between men and women.

Wisconsin voters have two clear choices for the Senate this fall: Russ Feingold, a trusted champion for women and families, who has proven that he will work hard to move the country forward; or incumbent Senator Ron Johnson, who will continue to vote to take women backward.
