Ad urges voters to elect Katie Hobbs to restore and protect abortion access in Arizona

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Planned Parenthood Votes released “Too Extreme,” a six-figure digital campaign focused on Arizona’s gubernatorial race. The 30-second ad highlights anti-abortion rights candidate Kari Lake’s support of Arizona’s reinstated near-total 1864 abortion ban, which has no exception for rape or incest and would imprison doctors who provide abortion care. The ad is also being released in Spanish.

Statement from Kelley Dupps, spokesperson Planned Parenthood Votes:

“Right now abortion is virtually inaccessible in Arizona, forcing people to leave their communities to access essential, life-saving health care. If the extremist conspiracy theorist Kari Lake reaches the governor’s office, the loss of basic reproductive freedom will continue. We know where Lake stands and it’s not with the majority of Arizonans who support access to safe, legal abortion. She cannot be trusted to lead with our best interests in mind, and now is the time to take control and fight back at the ballot box. Katie Hobbs, a fearless champion of reproductive rights and abortion access, is the leader Arizonans needs in this moment of crisis.”

The ad is part of Planned Parenthood Votes’ newly launched $1.5 million midterm electoral program in Arizona to elect Sen. Mark Kelly and Katie Hobbs to flip the Arizona House, Senate, and Maricopa County Attorney’s office. The Arizona-specific campaign is part of “Take Control,” a national $50 million campaign by Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations to protect reproductive rights across the country.

Both Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Blake Masters support abortion bans and restrictions.

“Too Extreme”

Abortion is now almost entirely out of reach in Arizona

An Arizona court re-instated a dangerous abortion ban from 1864 and Kari Lake supports it

The ban sends doctors to prison for providing abortion and has no exceptions for rape or incest

As governor, Kari Lake will continue to put her dangerous agenda before our rights, and health, and lives

Kari Lake is too extreme for Arizona

Vote Katie Hobbs for governor
