Organization sounds the alarm about Díaz Sr.’s threat to restrict health care access if elected

New York, NY — Today, one week away from the NY-15 Congressional primary, Planned Parenthood Votes launched new digital ads highlighting Rubén Díaz Sr.’s  record against abortion and LGBTQ+ rights. Díaz Sr., who likens himself to President Trump, is running to represent the most progressive congressional district in the country.

The digital ads underscore Rubén Díaz Sr.’s attacks on abortion rights and LGBTQ+ New Yorkers. He refused to resign his City Council seat after stating the Council was “controlled by the homosexual community.” He compared abortion to the Holocaust. Díaz Sr. even considers himself in the mold of President Trump, once saying “I do like Donald Trump. He’s like me, making enemies everywhere he goes.

Statement from Jenny Lawson, executive director, Planned Parenthood Votes:

“Rubén Díaz Sr. is a direct threat to our health care access. He is not just out of step with the lives of New Yorkers, he’s out of touch with reality. During a time when abortion access and equality are under constant attack from the Trump Administration and anti-abortion politicians in Congress, the last thing we need is to add more politicians with bigoted policies to their ranks. New Yorkers deserve a health care champion who will protect their rights, and Planned Parenthood Votes will work hard to ensure that’s the case.”

Planned Parenthood Votes will be running the ad campaign through the June 23 New York primary election to ensure that voters in the Bronx know the truth about Díaz Sr.’s agenda against abortion and equality.

Planned Parenthood Votes is an independent expenditure political committee registered with the Federal Election Commission.
