SAVANNAH — Tonight, with the election less than 30 days away, the stark contrast between Sen. Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker could not be clearer. Sen. Warnock is a proven champion of abortion rights who will work to expand access to care, while Walker is an out-of-touch, fringe candidate who can’t be trusted to protect Georgians’ health and rights.

Statement from Amy Kennedy, spokesperson for Planned Parenthood Votes in Georgia:

“Tonight, Sen. Warnock proved once again why he is the only candidate in this race who will stand up for Georgians’ reproductive rights in the U.S. Senate. Meanwhile, famed hypocrite and anti-abortion extremist Herschel Walker doubled down on his dangerous, out-of-touch views, spouted anti-abortion lies and misinformation, and attacked Georgians’ ability to access basic reproductive health care. He explicitly lied about supporting a total abortion ban with no exceptions. Walker values his political gain more than the health and safety of Georgians, and he can’t even be trusted to tell the truth, let alone represent us in Washington. Voters have a clear choice in this election: We must take control of our lives, bodies, and futures, and re-elect abortion rights champion Sen. Warnock.”

Right now, abortion is banned in Georgia after about six weeks of pregnancy under a law signed by Gov. Brian Kemp, which Walker reiterated his support for tonight. But even that isn’t cruel enough for Walker: He supports a total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or to save the pregnant person’s life. He also supports a nationwide abortion ban and could be the deciding vote to pass one in the Senate.

Last month, Planned Parenthood Votes launched a six-figure digital ad campaign on Georgia’s U.S. Senate and gubernatorial races, highlighting the stark contrast between anti-abortion rights candidates Walker and Kemp and proven reproductive health champions U.S. Sen. Warnock and Stacey Abrams. The Georgia ad campaign is part of Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations’ 2022 electoral program, “Take Control,” representing the groups’ largest-ever investment in an electoral cycle.
