WASHINGTON, D.C. — If anti-abortion politicians maintain control of the U.S. House after the 2024 election, they’ve already shown us exactly what we can expect for the next two years: More attacks on reproductive health care. In the two years since anti-abortion Republicans gained control, they’ve pushed anti-abortion legislation and refused to vote to protect birth control access.

But New Yorkers can make a difference. The path to a pro-abortion House majority goes directly through New York. Bottom line: we can’t afford to let the House stay in anti-abortion politicians hands. This November, voters have the power to flip the U.S. House to a pro-abortion majority and that can only happen through New York.

“The fight to elect pro-abortion leaders who will champion reproductive rights is critical in 2024. Textbook anti-abortion candidates like Rep. Brandon Williams (NY-22) and Rep. Marcus Molinaro (NY-19) consistently block New Yorkers’ access to reproductive health care. We cannot let them win in November, and must ensure that Kamala Harris has a pro-abortion rights governing majority when she wins” said Jenny Lawson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes.

Here’s a reminder of how some of New York’s anti-abortion House members have spent their time in Congress:

  • Rep. Michael LiPetri Jr. (NY-3) said he does not support late-term abortions and voted against codifying the right to abortion in New York state law.
  • Rep. Anthony D'Esposito (NY-4) confessed his support for anti-abortion politicians’ national abortion ban and attacked New York’s state law to protect the right to an abortion even after Roe v. Wade was overturned.
  • Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17) said he was “personally pro-life”.
  • Rep. Brandon Willians (NY-22) voted to pass anti-abortion legislation in one of his first acts after being sworn-in to Congress and voted for legislation that would add criminal and financial penalties against doctors and inappropriately intruding into the doctor-patient relationship.
