Montana’s U.S. Senate Candidate Tim Sheehy: Abortion is “A Terrible Terrible Thing. I Want It All to End Tomorrow “
For Immediate Release: Aug. 30, 2024
HELENA, MONTANA — If his intentions to undermine access to reproductive health care were not clear enough, last night, in newly released audio, U.S. Senate candidate Tim Sheehy expanded on his anti-abortion position. In the recording, Sheehy calls abortion “sinful” and “disgusting” — even going as far as saying: “I want it all to end tomorrow.”
Sheehy keeps telling us exactly how strongly he opposes abortion and reproductive health care access. If elected, we have no choice but to believe he’ll do everything in his power to upend access to abortion, including voting for a national abortion ban, and working with national groups like Susan B. Anthony Fund to limit access to IVF and other reproductive care. Montanans value their freedom to make their own medical decisions with their families and doctors, but Sheehy does not care about what our communities want or need. Politicians like Sheehy who put their personal beliefs ahead of the well-being of voters don’t deserve to be elected officials. Sheehy is showing Montanans his true colors: He cannot be trusted to protect Montanans’ reproductive freedom.
“There’s nothing disgusting about people accessing the health care they need,” said Quinn Leighton, spokesperson for Planned Parenthood Votes in Montana. “What’s repulsive is politicians meddling in voters’ personal medical decisions, spreading lies and misinformation about essential reproductive health care, and promoting personal agendas. Montanans want leaders who will safeguard their right to safe and legal abortions. Sheehy is showing Montana who he is and what he has in store for a potential Senate seat. He’ll take any opportunity to vote away our access to abortion and reproductive care at the expense of thousands of Montanans and their families.”
