WASHINGTON D.C. — Over the past week we’ve seen Donald Trump do a familiar dance. He just can't give voters a straight answer on reproductive rights, including abortion care: He claims his potential administration would be “great for women and their reproductive rights,” then boasts about overturning Roe, and spins around with a flip-flop on supporting a six-week state abortion ban.

To be clear, Donald Trump has no real convictions and doesn’t care about reproductive rights. He only cares about himself. When it comes to our freedom, he will say whatever he thinks will get him elected at that moment. But it’s what he’s done that matters. Donald Trump is the reason 22 states have banned all or some abortions; the reason 29 million women live in states where they are denied the freedom to control their bodies; the reason patients are being forced to flee their communities for basic health — sometimes even during medical emergencies; and the reason IVF and birth control are at even greater risk. That is Donald Trump’s legacy and he can’t run from it. Voters are watching and they will decide in November.
