Are you missing out when it comes to your reproductive health care? Unfortunately, with over 100 crises pregnancy centers in our state, including several in the Capital District, New Yorkers risk not receiving the non-judgmental, medically-accurate care they deserve.

Crisis pregnancy centers, commonly known as CPC’s, are often located near Planned Parenthood health centers and intentionally try to mislead people into believing they are legitimate health providers offering the same services. They do not. While CPC’s may advertise reproductive health services, they do not offer comprehensive medical care, their mission is to prevent abortion in all circumstances.

Because CPC’s try hard to masquerade as legitimate health care providers, visitors may not realize the misinformation they are given about contraception and abortion. In fact, it has been reported that CPC's have delayed abortion care until it is too late for women to access these services.

California had required CPC’s to post information about their health care services and medical licensing to inform patients, unfortunately, the Supreme Court ruled that it violated the CPC’s freedom of speech.

Because New Yorkers should be not be misled when it comes to contraception and pregnancy, Governor Cuomo launched a statewide campaign “Pregnancy: Know Your Options, Get The Facts”which clearly details what you should expect from a family planning provider.

There should no mystery when it comes to accessing unbiased, accurate health care services. Knowledge is power so know the facts when choosing a reproductive health care provider.
