(Albany, NY) Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts (PPESA) announced today that Ny Whitaker will become President and CEO this April. Ms. Whitaker will also chair sister-organization Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes PAC. She will assume the leadership position within PPESA beginning April 3rd, 2023.

Ms. Whitaker has more than 20 years of experience in government, policy, public affairs, education, community development, event production and fundraising. She most recently served as a Biden Presidential Appointee in the role of Senior Advisor in the Office of the Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture, where she provided strategic guidance to strengthen internal and external stakeholder engagement and oversaw a diverse portfolio of projects that advance the goals of the Biden + Harris administration. Ms. Whitaker has also served as a Senior Advisor to the Democratic National Committee, founded the grassroots organization New York for Biden + Harris, and was previously the Women’s Vote Director for the New York Democratic Committee.

“As a longtime political strategist and active community leader, I am eager to bring my energy and expertise to the powerhouse organization that is Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts, as it plays a critical role in the effort to protect and expand sexual and reproductive health care, rights, and justice in New York State,” said Ny Whitaker. “New York is not immune to attacks on abortion access and our broader bodily autonomy. We’ve got tremendous work to do, and I am humbled to lead such an important organization at a pivotal moment in the movement for reproductive rights.”

“The Board of PPESA is excited to announce the hire of Ny Whitaker, who is a proven leader, strategist, and expert that will lead this organization through its next chapter. New York is a key state in the broader fight for abortion rights and access, and her political and legislative acumen will be great assets in that fight,” said Michelle Casey, Board Chair, Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts. “We are also immensely grateful for our interim President and CEO, Georgana Hanson, who will return to her role of Vice President of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs. Georgana led PPESA to several key legislative victories, navigated the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and has been instrumental in positioning the organization for continued success under new leadership.”
