Albany, NY – While the federal government continues to erode access to reproductive health care, Planned Parenthood Empire Acts applauds Governor Andrew Cuomo’s action to ensure women receive comprehensive, medically accurate reproductive health care.
Statement from Robin Chappelle Golston, President of Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts:
"New York State’s women have the right to know what they are getting when they seek reproductive health care. Governor Cuomo is making it clear that our state will not tolerate entities claiming to offer reproductive health care and counseling while pushing misinformation and deception. When women visit a reproductive health center they deserve unbiased, accurate information so they can make the appropriate health care decisions for themselves and their families.”
Research shows that roughly 4,000 Crisis Pregnancy Centers, commonly known as CPC’s exist nationwide with over 100 in New York State. These so-called health centers provide very limited care and misleading information about essential reproductive health care from contraception to abortion.
Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts is a non-profit, statewide organization dedicated to protecting and expanding access to a full range of reproductive health care services. It represents New York’s Planned Parenthood affiliates and works to protect and expand access to reproductive health care for all New Yorkers.
