Florida Legislative Session 2023

Everyone deserves the freedom to make their own decisions about their bodies and their lives — including the decision to have an abortion. But politicians who oppose our right to abortion are trying to interfere with our personal health care decisions.

DIGITAL ACTION CENTER

The internet is a powerful tool that we can use to amplify our message and build a movement. Here are ways you can connect to us through social media, create content, and take action to advocate in Florida for the issues that matter to you.

Contact your State Legislators:

The tragic consequences of Florida's abortion ban are turning the lives of regular Floridians upside down.

As reported by the Washington Post Florida physicians face such excessive penalties for violating the ban – including the possibility of losing their licenses, steep fines and up to five years in prison – that they fear the repercussions of providing abortion care, even when patients like the Dorberts are faced with such heartbreaking circumstances.

Take action now: urge your state legislators to show compassion for couples like the Dorberts and oppose any further restrictions on abortion care.

ISSUES AND BILLS TO WATCH

Near-Total Abortion Ban

HB 7 / SB 300

This ban is effectively a total abortion ban for many. Often, people don’t even realize they’re pregnant at six weeks. Even if they do, the state's existing restrictions, like requiring two in-person visits 24 hours apart, make it extremely difficult to access care within that window of time.

Sex Education Restrictions / Book Censorship

HB 1069

This legislation takes total control from local school districts in approving sex ed curriculum, censors school materials, creates policies that erase and stigmatize LGBTQ+ students, and requires instruction to include only a reductive and binary view of sex and gender.

Reproductive Health Care Protection Act

SB 1076/HB 1033

Guarantees a person’s right to access reproductive health care in the State of Florida and prohibits any individual or government entity from denying a citizen’s fundamental rights.

Ron's Wreck of a Budget

Recommended Budget

Governor DeSantis’ budget priorities are all wrong. Instead of working to improve the lives of Floridians, DeSantis is pouring taxpayer dollars into programs that will harm our citizens, all in his personal quest to gain the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
