On Friday October 6, the Trump administration took direct aim at birth control coverage for 62 million women across the United States by eliminating the guarantee of insurance coverage for birth control regardless of who they work for. This is an unacceptable attack on basic health care that the vast majority of women rely on – an attack on the fundamental right to be able to decide whether and when to have children. With this new rule in place, any employer can decide that their employees no longer have health insurance coverage for birth control. Birth control is not controversial – it is health care the vast majority of women (nine of out ten women) will use in the course of their lifetime.
The Trump administration is carrying out a full-scale attack on women. Whether it’s eliminating birth control coverage, repealing the Affordable Care Act and taking away insurance from millions of Americans, banning abortion, or defunding Planned Parenthood, women are in the crosshairs.
We don’t stand for this in New Jersey. We need a governor who will protect against harmful policies at the federal level and make sure that New Jersey women can access the health care they need, when they need it.
Candidates: where do you stand on Trump’s latest action to cut access to reproductive health care? Will you commit to standing with New Jersey women when we need it most – by ensuring access to birth control and other women’s health services by restoring family planning funding?
We’re calling on you to take a public stand. Will you answer our call?
