Statement from Christine Sadovy, Legislative and Political Director,

Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey

“We at Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey congratulate the incoming members of New Jersey’s 218th Legislature. A majority of the new and returning members are champions of women’s health – having supported legislation to restore essential funding for reproductive health care in past sessions, or campaigning successfully on the issue. In fact, 74 percent of Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey’s endorsed candidates in the Senate and the Assembly won their races in the 2017 election.

“We are excited to work with the legislature and with Governor-elect Murphy to ensure that access to reproductive health care doesn’t depend on a person’s income or zip code. After eight years of Governor Christie’s vetoes of preventive reproductive health funding – for services like breast and cervical cancer screenings, birth control, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases – the time is now to stand with New Jersey women.

“We know that 75 percent of New Jerseyans support the restoration of family planning funding. We look forward to the state legislature and Governor-elect Murphy taking swift action to restore this funding and protect and expand access to reproductive health care.”
