From Kaitlyn Wojtowicz, Vice President of Public Affairs, Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey:

“To be clear: abortion is still legal and available in New Jersey. It is your right that is protected in New Jersey state law. If you need abortion care, you can visit AbortionFinder.org to find a provider near you.

The Supreme Court has ended our federal constitutional right to abortion and overturned Roe v. Wade — turning its back on nearly 50 years of precedent. The court has failed us all — especially Black, Latino, Indigenous, and other people of color who are disproportionately harmed by abortion bans due to this country's legacy of racism and discrimination. This outrageous decision will fuel efforts by state politicians to ban abortion in states across the U.S., forcing people to travel hundreds, sometimes thousands, of miles for care, or remain pregnant against their will.

“This decision goes against the will of the people: 80% of Americans believe that abortion should be legal. This decision won’t stop us. We will rebuild and reclaim the freedom that is ours.

“In New Jersey, our right to abortion is guaranteed by the Freedom of Reproductive Choice Act, signed into law by Governor Murphy in January of this year.  But rights without access are meaningless. There is much more to do in New Jersey to ensure that everyone - regardless of income, insurance coverage, or immigration status - can access the care they need to make their own personal decisions about their bodies and their lives.

That is why we call on our state Legislature to meet the urgency of this moment by passing S2918/A4350 without any delay. This is the time to stand up to these attacks on our bodily autonomy, and ensure that every New Jerseyan can afford to exercise their rights in our state.”
