Ahead of the election, make sure you’re registered to vote in California and check your registration status at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov. Every registered voter will be mailed a vote-by-mail ballot before the election, you can also vote in-person at any polling place in your county.
Your ballot will have two parts. In the first part, voters will have the option to vote “yes” or “no” to the question of whether to remove the Governor from office. In the second part, voters will have an opportunity to select a replacement candidate or leave the section blank. If more than 50% of voters vote to recall the Governor, then the replacement candidate with the most votes will be elected as California’s new Governor.

Wrap up on the State Budget
The framework of the 2021-2022 state budget is completed, with just a few more bills to be considered before the budget is final. We are very proud that the final budget addresses many of our budget priorities. Here are some of the investments we are celebrating:
-
Proposition 56. Continues supplemental payments for physicians, women’s health services, family planning and other allocations without suspension dates -- investing tens of millions in Medi-Cal.
-
Investment in the Future of Reproductive Rights. $5 million one-time allocation to assist in the establishment of the Institute on Reproductive Health, Law & Policy at the UCLA School of Law.
-
Forced or Involuntary Sterilization Reparations. $7.5 million dollars for funding for reparation payments to eligible survivors and other related costs of the Forced Sterilization Compensation Program.
-
Transgender Wellness & Equity Fund. $13 million to the California Department of Public Health for the Transgender Wellness & Equity Fund.
The Proposition 56 investment is a huge win for the health of our communities. Every year, Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest has advocated for Proposition 56 to be renewed in the state budget. We are proud that after many years of advocacy, these investments are now permanent. Thanks to investments like this, we have been able to expand our services to new regions in our communities and increase the amount of patients we can serve.
This year’s budget includes investments that we are proud to have played a role in securing. We look forward to continuing to advocate for our patients and communities and to provide them with the best care possible.
