Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Delaware announces endorsements for 2022 election
For Immediate Release: Oct. 6, 2022
WILMINGTON – Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Delaware announced Wednesday it is endorsing 44 candidates in the 2022 election.
Each of the 44 chosen individuals agrees substantively with Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Delaware’s stance on reproductive rights. Candidates are required to fill out a PPAFDE questionnaire and demonstrate pro-reproductive health views; specifically, they must align with the organization on at least 90% of the questions to be eligible for an endorsement.
The list of candidates was approved last week by Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Delaware’s executive board.
“We are excited to support this great group of candidates,” President and CEO Ruth Lytle-Barnaby said. “All of them have expressed support for sexual and reproductive health care, and most have proven that support with their voting records. It is heartening to see so many people not just support abortion access but run on defending and expanding it at a time when 17 states have instituted restrictions on this type of care. We urge voters who care about reproductive rights to back these individuals on Nov. 8.”
Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Delaware is supporting one candidate for each of the four statewide offices up this year, as well as 40 legislative seats. The organization is endorsing for reelection Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, Attorney General Kathy Jennings, and Treasurer Colleen Davis, as well as Lydia York for auditor.
In the state Senate, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Delaware has endorsed 16 candidates, 12 of whom are incumbents. The organization is supporting 15 current representatives and 24 individuals in total who are seeking a seat in the state House of Representatives.
Candidate responses to the questionnaire can be viewed online at https://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/planned-parenthood-advocacy-fund-delaware/elections/candidate-responses.
Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Delaware is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood of Delaware, a separate entity.
