Today is Election Day in Virginia. And tonight, we’ll know the results of a close gubernatorial race that has drawn national attention. Have you voted yet? Polls are open until 7pm.

It’s no surprise that Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia chose to endorse Ralph Northam, Justin Fairfax, and Mark Herring this election cycle over their Republican opponents. Each of these men has proven throughout their impactful careers that they stand with Planned Parenthood and, if elected, will fight for reproductive health care access in Virginia.

In fact, we really cannot stress enough the importance of this election: the stakes for women’s health in the commonwealth are quite literally hanging in the balance.

As Lt. Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam fought alongside Terry McAuliffe to protect choice in Virginia and maintain funding for Planned Parenthood. He marched alongside us in the Women’s March, and he will march alongside us towards a more progressive Virginia.

His opponent is everything he is not. Republican candidate Ed Gillespie is an embodiment of the radicalized GOP, and he is downright dangerous for women’s healthcare access in Virginia. He has publicly stated that he wants to defund Planned Parenthood and considers contraception immoral.

So, Virginians, polls are open today until 7pm. The vote you cast today could determine if 400,000 folks receive health insurance through Medicaid expansion, 20,000 Planned Parenthood patients continue to receive care from our trusted physicians, & hundreds of thousands of women have access to birth control.

One year ago, Virginia flipped blue and supported the first woman candidate for the highest office in the country. This year, we have the opportunity to continue building our reputation as a commonwealth that refuses to bend to the political pressure of an unhinged president.

Don’t sit at home and be left wondering what could have happened if you had only voted on November 7, 2017. #DontBooVote
