The House Human Resources Subcommittee just passed HF 515, a bill that provides state funds to fake women’s health centers, also known as crisis pregnancy centers. The bill is now headed to the full House Human Resources Committee and we need your help.

Fake women’s health centers restrict regular doctor or health center access, provide dishonest or evasive answers to inquiries about their services, and often select confusing locations or names that obscure their true agenda.

HF 515 is a way to dissuade pregnant individuals from obtaining an abortion by providing misinformation that is meant to scare, shame and deceive them. If it passes, the bill will restrict Iowans’ access to legitimate health care. Deceiving women by denying their access to evidence-based medical care endangers their health.  Iowans deserve the ability to make private health care decisions that are best for their unique circumstances—to do this, they must receive comprehensive, unbiased, medically, and factually accurate information.

Protect Essential Health Care Access

Anti-abortion legislators hope to pass this legislation as another ploy to limit Iowans’ access to safe abortion. Email the House Human Resources Committee members now and tell them DO NOT pass this legislation out of committee. Iowans need access to legitimate health care.

Dear [elected official],

There is so much to be done to support Iowans right now. We’re amid a pandemic with significant impacts on our overall health and communities.  Bills are moving quickly through the process that is putting women’s health at risk.

That's why it's crucial you do not pass the HF 515 out of committee. Instead, please focus on Iowans' needs and use the funding to adhere to our priorities. I ask you to reject HF 515, which would fund a state program that would shame and deceive women out of having abortions. Iowans deserve the ability to make private health care decisions that are best for their unique circumstances—to do this, they must receive comprehensive, unbiased, medically, and factually accurate information.

I do not want politics interfering in anyone's right to make their own informed, private medical decisions. I urge you to carefully consider the impact any decisions or actions regarding these issues will have on Iowans' health, lives, and equality under the law.

Sincerely,
[name]
