Fact Sheet

2021 Missouri Special Session

Out-of-touch lawmakers in Jefferson City held hostage an essential Medicaid funding bill (the Federal Reimbursement Allowance, or FRA) to launch an attack on Missourians' reproductive freedom, including:

  • Banning birth control coverage of emergency contraceptives and IUDs for patients who rely on MO HealthNet, Missouri's Medicaid program
  • Blocking patients with low incomes from accessing birth control, cancer screenings, annual exams and STI testing and treatment at Planned Parenthood health centers

They failed. Missourians came together to protect patients' access to health care: defeating attacks on birth control and stopping the so-called "defunding" of Planned Parenthood health centers.
