OMAHA, NEBRASKA—Nebraskan abortion supporters and advocates are standing up to protect the right to safe and legal abortion in response to the nation’s most restrictive abortion ban taking effect in Texas this week. The Texas law bans abortion at six weeks before most people know they are pregnant and places the enforcement in the hands of private citizens who can sue abortion providers and anyone who “aids and abets” abortions.

“We fully expected anti-abortion politicians in Nebraska to push their niche agenda in response to the abortion ban in Texas. Their narrow ideologies don’t reflect or align with Nebraska values and Nebraskans’ support for keeping abortion safe and legal in our state. Nebraskans are fed up and ready to raise their voices in the fight to protect their fundamental right to decide when and how to have a family. This week, Nebraskans have reached out and joined our movement, and we’ll keep growing. We aren’t backing down and we will be fighting to expand access to safe, legal abortion in Nebraska.”
