2018 Candidate Endorsements

We work to elect lawmakers who are pro-women’s health, who will repeal harmful legislation that only seeks to put Ohioans’ health at risk, and who will support new policies that lift up our women, men, and young people, instead of intentionally bringing them down.

2018 Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio Endorsed Statewide Candidates:

Richard Cordray, for Governor, and Betty Sutton, for Lt. Governor

"The state legislature has pursued a narrow ideological agenda that has hurt womens health programs in Ohio. It defunded Planned Parenthood programs for women's health. It roled back the rule requiring employers to provide contraceptive coverage, which has sharply reduced birth rates among teenagers. It has not invested sufficiently in pre-natal care, post-natal care, infant mortality programs, mammograms, and other women's health screenings. Rich and Betty will set a new direction in this key area."

Steve Dettelbach for Attorney General

"As a career federal prosecutor and civil rights attorney, I've spent my career fighting to make sure the law applies to all - that's why I'm so honored to be endorsed by Planned Parenthood. As Attorney General, I'll end the political games and attacks, and always protect a woman's legal right to make her own health care decisions."

Zack Space for Auditor

"Planned Parenthood provides critical resources such as preventative screenings, reproductive care, and family planning services to women and men across Ohio. I'm proud to support such a vital health care organization and am thrilled to have their support in my campaign for Auditor of State. Ohio's Auditor has broad oversight authority in state government, and I intend to do everything in my power to ensure every Ohioan has access to high-quality and accessible health care."

Representative Kathleen Clyde for Ohio Secretary of State

"I am so honored to receive the endorsement of Planned Parenthood. The health care services that Planned Parenthood provides to Ohio women is critcally important - like cancer screenings, preventative care, and other medical care. Protecting these services for the many Ohioans who rely on this access to care has been a priority for me in the Statehouse and it will continue to be as Secretary of State."

Rob Richardson for Treasurer

"Planned Parenthood provides a wide range of affordable, high-quality health services to thousands of women across Ohio. Many lives are saved every year by these preventative measures, which many women would not have access to were it not for Planned Parenthood. Attacks on Planned Parenthood are attacks on all women--especially those in the lower and middle classes. Women should have the freedom to make decisions about their own health. I'm honored to receive this endorsement and will always stand up for equal access and opportunities for women."

2018 Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorsed Candidates:

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown

"Planned Parenthood health centers provide affordable health care, education, and support to thousands of Ohio women and families — a lifeline to many Ohioans who have nowhere else to turn for access to quality care. Thank you to Planned Parenthood Action Fund for your ongoing work advocating on behalf of these families, and for your support of my reelection. Together, we will continue to fight for affordable health care options for all Ohioans and protect the right of women to make their own health care decisions."

Aftab Pureval for the OH01 Congressional District

"The easiest thing in the world is to believe that nothing will ever change. That your voice doesn’t matter. But this has been proven wrong time and time again. From the Civil Rights movement to the Women’s Rights movement, all great causes start with individual people raising their voices. And that’s what’s happening right now at this moment. "

Congresswoman Joyce Beatty for the OH03 Congressional District

"All Americans should have access to affordable, high-quality health care, and I will continue to work hard to make it a reality by strenghtening and improving on the Affordable Care Act. I will also continue supporting federal investment in groundbreaking medical research, as well as life-saving therapies and technologies to ensure the health and well-being of generations of Americans."

Congresswoman Marcia Fudge for the OH11 Congressional District

"Ensuring our children have an opportunity to succeed is important to every parent.  Making sure they are healthy enough to enjoy a long, productive life is a large part of the equation."

Danny O'Connor for the OH12 Congressional District

"Thousands of Ohio women and families benefit from access to vital health care, including cancer screenings and preventative care, through Planned Parenthoodd. I will always be a partner in the fight for health care and the right of womne to make their own health care decisions."

Congressman Tim Ryan for the OH13 Congressional District

"For the first time in decades, the United States has seen a drop in life expectancy. This is extremely troubling and emphasizes the need for our country to take a hard look on the health and wellness of our citizens. We need to increase access to health care for all Americans, improve preventative health, and make the necessary investments into research and development on how to combat diseases."

Betsy Rader for the OH14 Congressional District

A good health care system is fundamental to our nation’s future. Betsy believes that every American should have health care that they can reasonably afford, and that no one should be one health emergency away from bankruptcy. Washington needs new leadership so that we can improve on the Affordable Care Act and ensure health care is available at a reasonable rate for every hard-working Ohio family.

Rick Neal for the OH15 Congressional District

"Day after day, Members of Congress continue their attacks on the Affordable Care Act and risk the health care of thousands of Ohioans. That needs to end now. The ACA was a good start, but American families need a Congress willing to work together to craft a plan to provide healthcare to everyone — starting with expanding Medicare. In the meantime, we need to protect Medicaid programs that millions of Americans rely on, and move immediately to restore the Children’s Health Insurance Program."

2018 Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio Endorsed Ohio Senate Candidates:

Paul Bradley for District 5

"From childbirth classes, cancer screenings, and basic preventative health care services, Planned Parenthood has always been there for women and families, and I will always be there for them. We need to protect this vital health care service here in Ohio and as a State Senator, I promise to do just that. I am proud to support Planned Parenthood."

Senator Cecil Thomas for District 9

"Planned Parenthood provides high quality, afforable health care. In additional to family planning, it's clinics provides general health care, excellent sex education, emergency contraception, HIV, and other sexually transmitted disease services. It also provides high quality health care for LBGT patients. Cutting services to these clinics removes from the community a vitial service. I strongly believe that a person's decision regarding family planning or health should be left up to the individual and their doctor. It has no place in the legislature."

Representative Teresa Fedor for District 11

"I will continue to fight to protect women’s health care and ensure that women, especially those that are most vulnerable, receive the care they need. Thank you to Planned Parenthood for our partnership in protecting Ohio's women and families.”

Sharon Sweda for District 13

"I recognize and support Planned Parenthood as a vital provider of female health services. It is through Planned Parenthood that many women have affordable access to preventative screenings, pre-natal care, and family planning. The state legislature has taken an irresponsible position by defunding services and limiting the availability of women's access. I will work to restore adequate funding and expansion of health care for all women."

Representative Hearcel Craig for District 15

"I believe that all women should have access to high-quality health care. I know that Planned Parenthood works very hard to make sure that all women have that vital access and I thank them for their work on this vital issue."

Scott Dailey for District 17

Scott Dailey is a Democratic candidate for District 17 of the Ohio State Senate.

Louise Valentine for District 19

"As a state senator, I will fight for the wellbeing of all Ohio families, and their access to affordable, high-quality, comprehensive health care. We must support access to preventative health care services like cancer screenings. I will fight to protect a woman's right to comprehensive STD testing, contraceptive, and pregnancy medical services.  When women and families are healthy, our communities are strong."

Senator Sandra Williams for District 21

"For over forty years, multiple Supreme Court decisions have consistently reaffirmed a woman’s right to make the personal decision to end a pregnancy and continue by saying that states cannot prohibit common abortion methods. As a State Legislator I have fought tirelessly against the regressive Legislative attacks on women and their physicians. I wholeheartedly support and encourage the mental health and well-being of women. I continually fight for a woman’s right to access medical procedures that they and their doctors deem necessary. I support Planned Parenthood because it is a vital organization which provide numerous invaluable resources to women."

Representative Nickie Antonio for District 23

“For the last 8 years I have been a champion for reproductive rights and justice in the General Assembly and continue to raise my voice in opposition to any restrictions to a woman’s constitutional right to privacy and the right to access reproductive health care. I will continue to trust women and stand strong with the women of Ohio.”

Senator Kenny Yuko for District 25

"I have proudly stood beside Planned Parenthood - at rallies, in my office, in both committee and on the senate floor, and most importantly, with my vote. As a son, grandson, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, you will always have my support."

Adam VanHo for District 27

Adam VanHo is a father, husband and an attorney who is running for Ohio's 27th Senate District, which includes parts of Summit and Stark counties and all of Wayne County.

Lauren Friedman for District 29

"Transitioning to civilian life from the Navy wasn't easy. Without health insurance or an income that allowed me to pay out-of-pocket at a private women's clinic, Planned Parenthood became a health care resource I could rely on. Not only did they offer me education, screenings, and medical care, but they were there for me at a time when I could not have afforded that care without the sliding scale that allows them to provide free or inexpensive services to the people who need it most. During my work in social service, I saw many clients depend on them for quality health care and trusted resources, regardless of their ability to pay. This is why I support Planned Parenthood -- so those in my community have access to medical care regardless of what stage of life they're transitioning into or out of, the same way Planned Parenthood was there for me."

Melinda Miller for District 31

"Planned Parenthood provides critical health care services and education to people at all income levels acorss our state and country. It is a vital organization in our communities that helps women live healthy, empowered lives. As a woman and a mother, I wholeheartedly support the mission of Planned Parenthood. As a state senator, I would work hard to protect its funding so that all Ohioans have access to high-quality reproductive health care."

2018 Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio Endorsed Ohio House of Representatives Candidates:

Kevin Barnet for District 1

"I believe that quality, affordable health care should be a right, not just a privilege for the rich. No parent or loved one of a child or family member should ever be denied coverage for a procedure or treatment due to their economic situation. I will work towards those goals, and will oppose all restrictions that slashes coverage, tries to privatize or singles out and taxes the elderly and less healthy among us."

Lane Winters for District 2

"I am proud to support Planned Parenthood! I myself still have two letters from Planned Parenthood, one that I have now had for 11 years and the other for 9 years...they are the pregnancy confirmations of my my oldest son, and my identical twin boys!"

Tristam Cheeseman for District 4

“Planned Parenthood is an important resource for women and parents across Ohio, and must be protected.”

Phillip Robinson for District 6

“For nearly 100 years, Planned Parenthood continues to serve as a national leader in providing affordable and quality health care for women and men. I support their efforts to ensure all Americans have access to reproductive and sexual health care services.”

Aziz Ahmad for District 7

"Women's health should not be disregarded, as it currently is. Organizations like Planned Parenthood do a great job at providing resources for women and education people on women's health issues. Women should not be neglected or punished with unfair taxes and restricted resources simply because they are women."

Representative Kent Smith for
District 8

"Planned Parenthood is a trusted and reputable Ohio health care provider. They provide cancer screenings, birth control, and complete and medically accurate information about sexually transmitted diseases. In addition, they allow women to make their own reproductive choices by proving constitutionally protected abortion services. Recent data suggests that 46% of Planned Parenthood's Ohio client base is at or below federal poverty guidelines. In other words, half their patient pool can least afford health care offered to them through Planned Parenthood. I am proud to stand with Planned Parenthood."

Representative Janine Boyd for District 9

“More than half of Planned Parenthood’s patients have income at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level, and more than half of Planned Parenthood facilities are in medically underserved communities. Unlike most health care facilities, Planned Parenthood offers same-day appointments, longer hours, and weekend services, making access to preventive health care easier for people who work nontraditional or long hours. To me, the political attack on Planned Parenthood is not about abortion, when you consider these facts. I stand with Planned Parenthood, and I stand with the men and women who need their services most.”

Terrence Upchurch for District 10

Business specialist Terrence Upchurch won an eight-person primary for the 10 House District by 30 percent of the vote. Mr. Upchurch will likely be the next 10 House District Representative, as there is no Republican challenger in the general election.

"I support Planned Parenthood because they are committed to providing quality and affordable health care for women and men, focusing on reproductive and sexual health care services."

Juanita Brent for District 12

Juanita Brent won a four-way primary. Ms. Brent will likely be the next 12 House District Representative, as there is no Republican challenger in the general election.

Senator Michael Skindell for
District 13

At the Statehouse, Senator Skindell has advocated for greater consumer protection, affordable prescription drugs and utility costs, preserving the environment, economic opportunities for working families and the poor, universal health care and the development of Ohio's renewable energy resources. He played a key role in crafting the 2007-2008 budget that passed with just one dissenting vote. Senator Skindell has served as Chairman of the Joint Commission on Agency Rule Review and as Vice Chair of the Ohio House Consumer and Economic Protection Committee. He also served as a member of the Civil and Commercial Law Committee, the Finance Committee and its Transportation Subcommittee and the Judiciary Committee.

Bride Rose Sweeney for District 14

"Supporting and protecting Planned Parenthood is essential in the fight for providing affordable, accessible, and quality health care. Attacks on Planned Parenthood are usually rooted is misguided and false information, in truth they provide critical health care to not just woman but all Ohioans. I am proud to stand with Planned Parenthood."

Representative Nicholas Celebrezze for District 15

"From preventative health care services like cancer screenings to childbirth classes and postpartum exams, Planned Parenthood is an essential part of ensuring access to health care, especially in underserved areas. I applaud the health care experts and doctors who help countless patients day in and day out, and I am proud to support their important work of extending health care access to people in need."

Cassimir Svigelj for District 16

"It was an honor to participant in this year’s women’s march at which my mother, Melissa Svigelj-Smith, was asked to speak. I have always been an advocate for organizations such as Planned Parenthood, NWLC, NOW, and The Project to End Human Trafficking. I believe we need more women as elected officials and worked as a campaign manager for a women’s mayoral campaign. Having been raised by a single, teenage mother, I know how strong women can be and will fight to advance their rights and protections. I will work for an economy powered by transparency, accountability, security, and equity and create workforce opportunities that reduce discrimination against women and the LGBTQIA community."

Representative Adam Miller for District 17

"Planned Parenthood is a national leader in the fight for women's rights and the integrity of women's personal health care decisions.  In supporting Planned Parenthood and their legislative objectives, we are supporting not just individual freedoms but strong families and safer communities. I'm proud to stand with Planned Parenthood."

Representative Kristin Boggs for District 18

"I stand by Planned Parenthood because they are a trusted resource that provides women with honest, accurate medical information regarding STDs, contraception, and pregnancy.  Nearly every woman I know has at some point relied on Planned Parenthood for health care services, and it scares me to think about how many women wouldn't receive the care they need if Planned Parenthood wasn't there to serve them."

Mary Lightbody for District 19

"Women, men, and young people across Ohio have relied on Planned Parenthood for health screenings, regular care, and access to comprehensive reproductive information and birth control.  Its compassionate and complete range of health services have provided a necessary service to many individuals and families, but particularly, to those who otherwise have limited access to quality care. I proudly support this organization and its many services, and appreciate the contributions of the dedicated doctors, nurses, and volunteers who work there."

Representative Richard Brown for District 20

"Importantly, Planned Parenthood provides women with accurate information about their health decisions, allowing women to take control of and care for their health and well-being. Planned Parenthood supports safe and legal abortion procedures. I too support safe and legal medical procedures and efforts to keep it that way. No man can walk in a woman's shoes when it comes to reproductive decisions that are highly personal, complex, and difficult to make. I support the goal of Planned Parenthood to provide information that helps women amke informed health decisions of the most difficult nature."

Beth Liston for District 21

"Health is important to everyone, not only as individuals, but we are all better off when we have healthy communities. We must take the progress we have made over the last several years and build upon this to ensure that all people have high quality health care. We need to move the conversation beyond partisan talking points, and towards real solutions."

Representative David Leland for District 22

"For over 100 years, Planned Parenthood health centers have provided the full range of reproductive health services, including birth control and family planning, comprehensive sex education, and access to safe, legal abortion.  In Ohio and across the country, one in five women will rely on Planned Parenthood, as the most trusted reproductive health care organization in the world, for health care in her lifetime. Everyone, regardless of income, immigration status, race, sexual orientation, or gender identity, should be able to make decisions about their health and future with dignity and economic security. I am honored to stand with Planned Parenthood and with women across Ohio – as I have throughout my many years of public service.  Women should have the right to make their own decisions about their private, personal health care, without the interference of politicians’ political agendas."

Russ Harris for District 23

"We live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world yet many Ohioans are sick and suffering because of the exorbitant price of prescription drugs. Ohio has one of the highest rates of both infant and maternal mortality. And for the last couple of years, Ohio ranks second in the nation in opioid-related deaths. An attack on Ohioans access to health care is unacceptable. I will fight to not only halt the attempts to end Medicaid but also to expand it so that all Ohioans who need medical care and treatment will have access."

Allison Russo for District 24

"I am proud to stand with Planned Parenthood because it reliably provides a full range of affordable reproductive health services and cancer screening to thousands of Ohio women who might not otherwise be able to obtain this care. Access to quality healthcare and family-planning services is critical to improving the health and well-being of women and their babies and is an essential part of a woman’s economic security. I will always work to ensure that all women have the resources, rights, and respect to make reproductive health decisions that are best for themselves, their families, and their futures."

Erica Crawley for District 26

"As a woman who has received reproductive health care services from Planned Parenthood since 2002 up until as recently as last year, I understand first hand how much this organization is needed in communities throughout the country and especially in underserved areas that already face a disproportionate lower access to health care like the District in which I live in and hope to represent. As a candidate with a Planned Parenthood Surgical Center located within my district, now and when elected, I will advocate for continued funding for comprehensive reproductive health care services. I will work to ensure the public has truthful information about the organization and counter the misrepresentations that are made by some politicians. I will continue to advocate for a woman's right to choose to terminate her pregnancy and will fight against any legislation that attempts to impose unnecessary restrictions on that right or attempts to ban abortions in general."

Christine Fisher for District 27

“Planned Parenthood provides absolutely essential health care services to men and women across Ohio, many of whom would have no access to such services without health care centers like those provided by Planned Parenthood. In the statehouse I will not only fight for a woman’s right to health care and a woman’s right to make her own health care choices with her doctor, I will fight against any attempt to shut down or defund any center dedicated to providing care to any and all Ohioans.”

Jessica Miranda for District 28

“As a woman and mother I am passionate about women’s rights and will ensure that legislation in our statehouse will not determine a woman’s right to choose and a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her own body and health care. Planned Parenthood has educated thousands of women and families who need crucial treatment and screenings in our communities. Keeping this affordable access to our communities will provide a better quality of life for our citizens. I am proud to be a part of the year of the woman and this moment in women’s rights in our history. Let’s take back our statehouse and get more females at the table!"

Representative Brigid Kelly for
District 31

"I'm proud to support a woman's right to make her own choices about her body and her medical care. During my current term, I've opposed restrictions to abortion services, sponsored legislation that would make medically necessary feminine hygeine products exempt from the sales tax (and thereby more accessible to women in our state), and co-sponsored a number of pieces of legislation protecting patients and their access to reproductive care."

Representative Catherine Ingram for District 32

As a public servant, university instructor, realtor, neighborhood leader, mom and grandmother, Catherine knows how much the decisions made in Columbus personally impact all of us. She has been a member of the Cincinnati Board of Education for over 20 years, serving as president and vice president in the mid-90’s. Catherine has served on numerous board committees and, for many years, in a leadership role as Finance Committee chair.

Sedrick grew up around a host of family and friends, always there to ensure his success.

Representative Emilia Sykes for District 34

Her passion for social justice extends to issues such as voter rights, criminal justice reform, a more efficient social safety net for struggling Ohioans, and an end to domestic violence.

Representative Tavia Galonski for District 35

"Planned Parenthood represents comprehensive health care for Ohio Families. As such, it serves as the educator and health resource for many who often find it difficult to access quality care. My support of planned parenthood is unequivocal and unwavering."

Tim Piatt for District 36

"Planned Parenthood is to be applauded for providing essential resources and services for women in Ohio and across this country. I support the work it does such as preventative screenings, reproductive care, family planning services, and other medical procedures that physicians deem necessary and expedient. In addition, for over 40 years the United States Supreme Court has reasserted a woman’s right to choose and I will oppose any attempts in the Ohio Legislature to restrict needed and accessible education and health care to women across Ohio.”

Casey Weinstein for District 37

Casey’s family is his rock and foundation. He wants to raise his daughters to reach their maximum potential, and to give them every opportunity to achieve their dreams. He will be a fighter for his family and yours at the State House.

Elliot Kolkovich for District 38

"I am running for office because I am ready for the next challenge. I am running because I want to be proactive in helping families tackle issues. I am running because I want to make sure tomorrow is better than yesterday for my family, for my district, and for all of Ohio."

Representative Fred Strahorn for District 39

“As someone who knows that women are smart enough to make their own reproductive choices and choices about their health, I am appreciative of my recent endorsement from Planned Parenthood. I am thankful they are around to help provide a variety of health care services to women who in some cases might not otherwise receive care.”

Ryan Rebecca Taylor for District 40

"Everyone deserves access to affordable, quality health care including women's access to reproductive health care and birth control.  When women are healthy, families are healthy and that positively impacts all Ohioans."

Zach Dickerson for District 42

"Planned Parenthood is a gateway to critical, affordable healthcare for millions of people. Not only do they provide life saving preventative care, they advocate for women's reproductive rights. The Supreme Court guaranteed a right to privacy in Roe v Wade and I will fight with Planned Parenthood to protect that. Women should be free to make their own healthcare choices."

Paula Hicks-Hudson for District 44

As the first black female mayor of Toledo, Paula Hicks-Hudson has always exhibited a commitment to empowering and helping people improve their quality of life.

Lisa Sobecki for District 45

“I stand with Planned Parenthood because they were there for me when I didn’t have health care coverage in my late teens.  Planned Parenthood provided me with essential medical service, support, and most of all, compassion.  I stand with women and will protect women’s rights as a representative in the Ohio State House”.

Representative Michael Sheehy for District 46

"In the long time march for women's equality in American society, Planned Parenthood has been at the forefront for the past 100 years. Reproductive freedom is closely tied to freedom in the work palce, government, and society-at-large. Because Planned Parenthood has fought for women's rights and health, I join that fight to protect those rights we have achieved."

Lorraine Wilburn for District 48

"For the past 100 years, Planned Parenthood has been a trusted health care provider ensuring access to safe and affordable health care, often in medically underserved communities. I have marched, rallied, and voted in support of a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions. I am proud to stand with Planned Parenthood and the thousands of women in Ohio who receive essential health care services from Planned Parenthood."

Representative Thomas West for District 49

Susan was a non-traditional student, balancing raising her two children while attending classes.

Kelly Kraus Mencke for District 55

"As a working mom, my focus will always be what is best for our families, our children, and future generations. I also feel strongly that we must always honor and respect our veterans. If elected to serve, I will meet with and listen to our residents because I know I work for them."

James Johnson for District 57

"I proudly support the efforts thaof Planned Parenthood. I do not think the government should be stepping in and saying what women should be allowed to do with their bodies.  My wife went to Planned Parenthood when she was young and on her own because she could not afford medical care at the time.  Unfortunately, people simply focus on abortions and not the whole picture of the services that are offered at your facilities.  One of my main campaign points is affordable health care.  Planned Parenthood is a critical piece of that equation."

Patty Lawrence for Distirct 65

Patricia Lawrence is a Democratic candidate for District 65 of the Ohio House of Representatives.

Representative Michele Lepore-Hagan for District 58

“Along with defending the right to choose, I share Planned Parenthood’s goal of reducing the number of unplanned pregnancies by ensuring that women everywhere have access to effective and affordable contraceptive services. That is why I am working with Rep. Nickie Antonio to secure passage of HB 248, the Ohio Prevention First Act. This legislation will help prevent unintended pregnancies by significantly enhancing the sexual health curriculum offered in our schools, expanding access to hormonal contraception, and providing additional services to sexual assault victims.”

Jeff Richards for District 66

"I believe in a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body and health care. The government has no business making those decisions for her. I believe the way to reduce unwanted pregnancies is to educate and provide access to affordable contraception. Planned Parenthood has been on the forefront of protecting women’s rights and I wholeheartedly support their mission. Women have been suppressed for too long and that needs to change."

Kathleen Tate for District 68

"I am an advocate, not a politician. I have seen rights that were gained during my younger life, eroded by self-serving politicians who do not represent the people. I am running because I want to serve the people. I want to show that a representative can be responsive to the people and not to moneyed interests."

Jeremy Blake for District 71

"Thank you to Planned Parenthood for working each day with women and families to assure vital health services are provided. I am proud to support their important work. I will always be a partner in the fight for health care and the right of women to make their own health care decisions."

Kim McCarthy for District 73

"Health care is a human right, and the U.S. is the only modern industrialized country in the entire world to not offer health care to all of its citizens. Our country has some of the worst health care results, with the highest costs, so it’s fair to say that the current system is broken.  The only truly effective solution is to take the profit motive out of the equation, like most of the other countries in the world have.  We can do better, and we must."

Randi Clites for District 75

Randi, her husband Matt, her son Colton, and their two dogs are lifelong residents of Portage County. Randi is currently the Associate Director of the Northern Ohio Hemophilia Foundation and serves as the Advocacy Coordinator for the Ohio Bleeding Disorders Council. John Kennedy for District 76

"I'm running because as a father of two very young girls, as a stakeholder in the success of this community and state, I'm obliged to do all I can to bridge the growing gap between the rich and the poor, to provide our young people with the tools and resources they need to be successful, to give voice to those who haven't been heard, and to give our seniors the kind of care and protection they deserve."

Brett Pransky for District 77

"America is the richest nation in the history of history. As such, we have no excuse for the pain, suffering, and death we allow to happen simply because we can't be bothered to fix the problem. Health care is a human right, and I'll keep fighting until everyone has that right."

Amber Daniels for District 78

To truly represent people, you need to get to know them and visit their communities often to stay up on the changing issues they face. That is why she plans to visit every corner and every town, and have real one-on-one interactions with the people in the communities, to better understand the areas she will serve. She wants the people in these communities to know that she will not only represent them, but that their voices matter and that she will take their collective voice to the Statehouse. The issues facing the 78th are just as important as the issues facing the rest of the 99 districts in Ohio.

Amanda Finfrock for District 79

"I am running for State Representative of the 79th Ohio House District. I went to law school because I wanted to make a difference in this world by helping others. I know that with passion and dedication, I could bring positive change to people's lives and their surroundings. I’ve had the honor to be a Captain in the Army National Guard JAG Corps where I was humbled to watch the other soldiers around me sacrifice so much. I want to do more, and with your help, I can!"

Glenn Coble for District 86

"I will encourage the return of local funding by the state and federal governments for infrastructure and projects to improve to lives of the 86th district and all of Ohio’s citizens. I will support laws that give our citizens the right to choose, especially in regard to their own health. I am not afraid to be independent of thought and I will not be an ideological stooge."

Mary Pierce-Broadwater for District 87

"I strongly believe women have the right to affordable access to reproductive care. A woman's health care decisions should be made between her and her health care provider. Planned Parenthood offers access to affordable health screenings, family planning, and education. I strongly support Planned Parenthood because they support women."

Rachel Crooks for District 88

"As a #MeToo candidate who stood up to President Trump, I am no stranger to fighting  for women and ensuring that our voices are heard. Planned Parenthood is a great example of an organization that has persevered despite repeated attacks, because the truth is it provides many important healthcare services for women and men. I will work to educate Ohioans about these vital programs and ensure that communities understand the positive impacts provided by Planned Parenthood."

Joe Helle for District 89

"I was in the audience at the statehouse when our House of Representatives voted against funding Planned Parenthood.  I did not serve six and a half years in the Army to watch my elected “representatives” vote against those who are disadvantaged.  By doing so they disregarded the vital medical care that Planned Parenthood provides to both men and women, whether it be family planning, STI testing, providing birth control, and more.  I understand the services that Planned Parenthood provides, and I stand firm with them."

Beth Workman for District 92

Like many fellow Americans, Beth has felt very concerned and unsettled since the 2016 presidential election. Through much prayer, reflection and contemplation, Beth finally heard the call to serve and knew it was time to dedicate herself to a higher cause and become a public servant. Though she is not a fan of the current administration, she does give credit to them for creating a generation of activists. The women of the #MeToo movement as well as the brave students from Parkland, Florida have all been empowered to take action and Beth is excited to join the fight and use it to change Ohio for the better.

Taylor Sappington for District 94

"I am proud to stand with Ohio women against out of touch politicians in the statehouse. Raised in a single parent household, I know that women can speak for themselves on their health care. Thank you to Planned Parenthood for their support."

Kristine Geis for District 97

"I am a regular person, who knows how it feels to live on a budget, make do with less and work hard to provide a stable life for my family.  My work life is similar to many people in our area, I hold 2 part-time jobs to make ends meet. I teach science at Zane State College while substitute teaching at all educational levels in many of our public schools.  These experiences have prepared me to work with government in community development and school reforms, two of the most important issues facing the 97th District."
