Washington's New Sex Ed Law
The Washington State Legislature passed a vital bill, SB 5395, to expand and improve our state’s sex education programs. It will require all public schools to offer age-appropriate, medically accurate, and inclusive instruction. Prior to this law, schools were not required to offer sex education.
A small but very vocal group of anti-science activists filed a referendum (R-90) to put the sex ed law on the ballot this fall, and they're being dishonest about the law in the process. We discourage you from signing the referendum petition, and also want you to have accurate information to respond to their misleading and harmful statements.
