Planned Parenthood Great Plains kicked off its Summer of Normalcy campaignwith the Repro Rights Rally in Wichita! In partnership with Trust Women, Wichita NOW, WiTCoN, Peggy Bowman Second Chance Fund, First Unitarian Universalist Church of Wichita, supporters gathered in Old Town Square for a good ol’ fashion rally celebrating reproductive health care freedom.

Summer of Normalcy is a PPGP project to lift up ordinary tales of health care, to show reproductive and sexual health care is NORMAL. Patients share their Planned Parenthood stories of STI testing, annual well-checkups, abortion and other preventive health care. Through story sharing, PPGP believes together, your voice can outshine anti-reproductive health extremists.

Saturday’s rally proved just how normal and proud Wichitans are of the reproductive health care offered in their city. Under the bright, hot sunshine of July, PPGP’s Interim Director of Public Policy, Elise Higgins, proudly proclaimed “Planned Parenthood in Wichita offers safe and legal medication abortion!”

Planned Parenthood supporters donned their #SummerofNormalcy swag to stand in solidarity with reproductive rights advocates. Rallies like this show we are all stronger together, that we are better when we unite. Thank you to all who braved the heat and shared your Saturday. Help us get Summer of Normalcy started by sharing your story or becoming a patient escort in Wichita, Overland Park or Oklahoma City. Be part of the powerful work Planned Parenthood offers in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
