Social Media for Social Movements
July 13 - 17, 2020
Images of police violence and killings of Black people have galvanized current and historical civil justice uprisings. We will explore how social media and digital media have been central to the movement for Black lives. The week will feature a new film imagining the trial that never happened after a Staten Island grand jury refused to indict NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo for the murder of Eric Garner.
