On May 31, 2018, GOP Gubernatorial candidate Tim Pawlenty announced his decision to name current Lieutenant Governor Michelle Fischbach as his running mate.
Sarah Stoesz, President of the Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund:
“Imagine a Minnesota where the highest leaders in the state want to cut people off from birth control and life-saving care at Planned Parenthood. A Pawlenty-Fischbach administration would turn the clock back decades on women’s health and severely limit women’s access to cancer screenings and contraception. This ticket would impede the progress we’ve made on lowering rates of unintended pregnancy, teen pregnancy and abortion.”
“Michelle Fischbach has led the charge against women’s health in our state for decades, taking every opportunity to vote against safe, legal abortion and reproductive health care. As a state senator, Fischbach repeatedly attacked Planned Parenthood and Minnesotans’ access to affordable birth control. Planned Parenthood provides critical health care services to nearly 70,000 people in communities across the state. Most clinics are in Greater Minnesota where Planned Parenthood may be the only option for care. If elected, the Pawlenty-Fischbach administration would go unchecked, cutting Minnesotans off from the health care they need.”
