US House Introduces Bill to Repeal ACA and Block Medicaid Patients From Coming to Planned Parenthood
“For the vast majority of people in this country, Planned Parenthood is the solution, not the problem. One in five women in America has relied on Planned Parenthood, and their health care shouldn't get caught up in congressional Republicans' extreme agenda. This proposal would deny millions of women – including thousands here in our region – access to cancer screenings, birth control, and STD testing and treatment.”
HF1962 would cut off the state funding and federal funding that many women rely on in order to get basic reproductive health care like birth control, clinical breast exams, and cervical cancer screenings.
The Minnesota Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, or Minnesota FACE Act, ensures that reproductive health clinics remain safe and secure spaces. A person's right to access medical care shouldn't be accompanied by feelings of threat or intimidation.
SF704 (HF812) is an unconstitutional restriction on a woman’s right to abortion that would require abortion clinics to meet discriminatory, unnecessary, and burdensome standards.
SF702 (HF809) would eliminate abortion coverage for Medicaid-insured women. A person’s source of health insurance shouldn’t determine whether or not they can access an abortion.
“We fight, like our mothers and grandmothers did, with the hope that someday, our daughters or granddaughters don’t have to.”
The ability to live and thrive without fear of deportation, surveillance, or having your family torn apart, and the ability to access health care, are basic human rights. Planned Parenthood is proud to provide high-quality care and education to everyone regardless of faith, country of origin, immigrant or refugee status, or to those who may otherwise have nowhere else to turn for health care. We are committed to standing with immigrants and refugees.
It's up to us to protect access to Planned Parenthood services so they are available to people who rely on them. It's up to us to make sure Planned Parenthood clinics will be there wherever and whenever they are needed—no matter what.
