As Pride month comes to a close, we look back on the month of June as one that pushed us, challenged us, and called us to do more. We must never forget that Pride began as an act of protest by a Black trans woman. That protest continues.
June Medical Services v. Russo not only threatens access to care, it also brings up the issue of “third-party standing” and whether it is applicable in abortion cases. If the Court rules that physicians and health centers no longer have “third-party standing,” it will make it much more difficult for unnecessary abortion restrictions to be challenged in the courts.
