Last week, the court rejected an appeal on a dangerous abortion ban in Arkansas—and this week, the court issued two decisions—one related to abortion rights and one related to LGBTQ rights and anti-discrimination policy.
More than 7,000 in Rep. Paulsen’s district rely on Title X funds, so why won't he commit to protecting them and ensuring that his constituents have a place to go for life-saving health care like cancer screenings, birth control, and STD testing and treatment?
Governor Dayton Joins Opposition to Trump’s “Gag Rule” that Restricts Access to Reproductive Health Care
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund applauds Governor Dayton for standing with Minnesota women to protect essential health care services.
A Pawlenty-Fischbach administration would turn the clock back decades on women’s health and severely limit women’s access to cancer screenings and contraception. This ticket would impede the progress we’ve made on lowering rates of unintended pregnancy, teen pregnancy and abortion.
Everyone, regardless of their race, of their income, or where they live, deserves the best medical care and information available. Under this rule, they won’t get it. Here in Minnesota, 53,000 patients across 31 locations – including 51,000 Planned Parenthood patients – rely on Title X-funded clinics for life-saving health care, cancer screening, birth control, and STI testing. Title X funding is a major part of our public health infrastructure that provides Minnesotans with the birth control and reproductive health services they need.
Though 2018 Minnesota Legislative Session lasted only three months, Republican lawmakers spent the Session passing legislation that needlessly attacked reproductive health and rights and rejecting proposals for proactive policies that would have helped Minnesotans.
“Make no mistake, the bill introduced today is a serious attack on Minnesotan’s health and safety. People need access to safe and legal abortion so they can decide what’s best for their health and for their families.”
Planned Parenthood Action Fund Praises Governor Dayton for Protecting the Patient-Doctor Relationship
We commend Governor Dayton for vetoing SF 2849, which is completely unnecessary since women already have the option to view an ultrasound prior to an abortion. Governor Dayton showed once again that he believes patients deserve their physicians’ best medical judgment and counsel, not unnecessary mandates dictated by politicians. This veto is yet another example of Governor Dayton’s leadership, putting the health and rights of all Minnesotans before politics.
