This election, Minnesotans have the opportunity to elect Dr. Aleta Borrud to the Minnesota Senate. As a doctor, Aleta Borrud believes that everyone should have access to affordable birth control and safe, legal abortion. That's why she is endorsed by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
As a Senator, Carla Nelson failed to protect access to affordable birth control in Minnesota, instead allowing employers to deny birth control coverage on religious grounds. 1
She opposes safe, legal abortion. She received a 100% voting score from groups who oppose abortion, even in cases of rape or incest. 2
Carla Nelson also voted to keep harmful conversion therapy in Minnesota. Conversion therapy is a discredited and dangerous practice that harms LGBTQ+ youth by using shame and intimidation tactics to pressure young people to change who they are. 3
Minnesotans care about our neighbors. We fight for health, equity, and safety. We deserve better than Carla Nelson.

Dr. Aleta Borrud opposes conversion therapy. She has also pledged to support organizations, like Planned Parenthood, that provide people of all backgrounds access to quality health care, family planning services, and unbiased medical information. She will fight for affordable birth control and oppose any effort to control people's bodies. She believes that health care is a right and that accessing quality care shouldn't depend on how much money you make.
