7 Things You Can Do to Fight for Abortion Access

A draft U.S. Supreme Court majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked on May 3, 2022. The draft explicitly calls for Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey to be overruled, obliterating federal protections for abortion.
Abortion is still legal today, but the leak from the Supreme Court makes it clear that our deepest fears are coming true: the Court seems prepared to end the constitutional right to abortion.
If this happens, North Dakota will ban abortion in almost all circumstances due to a trigger law already on the books.
Here are 7 ways you can fight back now.
1. Attend a rally near you
In this critical moment, we are coming together to raise our voices and build solidarity with one another. Together, we will make clear: North Dakotans need abortion access, and we will fight like hell to protect safe, legal abortion in our state. There are rallies being organized for May 14 in Fargo, Bismarck, Minot, and Grand Forks. Details for these rallies will be posted here as they are finalized.
2. Donate to the ND WIN Fund
The North Dakota WIN Fund provides financial assistance for people seeking abortion in our state. Too often, the costs of overcoming financial and logistical barriers to abortion access keep people from accessing the care they need. This places burdens on the people who already face significant barriers in accessing care—including people with low incomes, young people, people of color, and folks living in rural areas. Make a donation today to break down these barriers and help North Dakotans access the reproductive health care they deserve.
3. Connect with your legislators
North Dakotans deserve access to abortion without political interference. Contact your legislators to demand they protect the right to abortion and oppose harmful bills that limit and restrict access. And if they won’t listen to their constituents, hold them accountable and vote for someone who will.
4. Speak up
Speaking up and having conversations about abortion and reproductive health care helps to normalize and destigmatize abortion. You can even take these conversations to social media, but be sure to share updated, accurate and verified information about abortion and the harmful effects of bans.
5. Share your story
Sharing your story is a critical way to help show your community that North Dakotans need access to abortion. Support others and listen with empathy when they share their story with you. Sign up to become a storyteller now. (You can always share anonymously.)
6. Stay connected with the organizations leading this fight
In North Dakota, there is a coalition of organizations on the front line of this work every day. Support these organizations by joining their email list, following them on social media, volunteering, and sharing their content on your own social media feed to uplift the work they are doing.
