Call Your Senators to #StopTheBans!
The Missouri Legislature is considering the most extreme abortion bills in the country, and we urgently need your help.
Both House Bill 126 and Senate Bill 279 would ban abortion as early as six weeks — before most people ever know they are pregnant.
The Senate can bring these bills up for a vote any day, so now is the time to tell politicians to #StopTheBans. Call your senator now!
Rally @ the Capitol on May 8
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 8 and join us for a rally at the Capitol! Missourians from across the state will raise our voices together and tell lawmakers to #StopTheBans and protect safe, legal abortion.
Plan to meet us in the Capitol at 10:00 a.m. or join a carpool from Columbia, Kansas City, Springfield or St. Louis. RSVP today!
Act Now to Protect Missourians’ Care
The Missouri Senate will vote this week on two bills that aim to “defund” Planned Parenthood by blocking Missourians from vital preventive care, like birth control, cancer screenings, and STI testing and treatment.
Let's be clear: “Defunding” is discrimination. “Defunding” singles out patients who rely on public health care programs like Medicaid and blocks them from getting preventive care at Planned Parenthood health centers.
Defend the Win: Protect the Clean Missouri Reforms!
In November, Missourians voted overwhelmingly for democracy reform by passing Amendment 1 with more than 60% of the vote. But lawmakers are already planning to overturn it and undo the will of the voters.
Amendment 1, Clean Missouri, limits lobbyist gifts, opens legislative records to the public, and ensures neither party has an unfair advantage when new district maps are drawn. Amendment 1 protects minority representation and requires a nonpartisan expert to draw fair legislative maps.
Take action this week to protect Clean Missouri:
- Contact your lawmakers and tell them to respect voters and protect Amendment 1!
- Attend the Greene County Democrats’ Clean Missouri Town Hall in Springfield: Wed. April 24, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
- Join the Defend Clean Missouri Phone Bank in St. Louis: Wed. April 24, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Join Us in Springfield Tuesday Night
Planned Parenthood Advocates is hosting a special event in Springfield to offer supporters a legislative update. Our Missouri Legislature is in a political race to overturn Roe v. Wade. Emboldened by the new conservative majority on the Supreme Court, anti-abortion lawmakers in numerous states — including Missouri — are pushing near-total bans on safe, legal abortion. Come get updates on these bills and learn what you can do to make sure your voice is heard!
- RSVP for the Springfield Legislative Update: Tuesday, April 23, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
