Join the #StopTheBans Day of Action!

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 8 and join us at the Capitol for a day of action! Missourians from across the state will raise our voices together and tell lawmakers to #StopTheBans and protect safe, legal abortion.

Plan to meet us in the Capitol at 10:00 a.m. or join a carpool from Columbia, Kansas City, Springfield or St. Louis. RSVP today — enter your zip code to find a carpool near you!

Call Your Senators to #StopTheBans!

The Missouri Legislature is considering the most extreme abortion bills in the country, and we urgently need your help. Both House Bill 126 and Senate Bill 279 would ban abortion as early as six weeks — before most people ever know they are pregnant.

The Senate can bring these bills up for a vote any day, so now is the time to tell politicians to #StopTheBans. Call your senator now!

Act Now to Protect Missourians’ Care

The Missouri Senate voted last week to pass two bills that aim to “defund” Planned Parenthood by blocking Missourians from vital preventive care, like birth control, cancer screenings, and STI testing and treatment. Both bills will require another vote in the House and Senate.

Let's be clear: “Defunding” is discrimination. “Defunding” singles out patients who rely on public health care programs like Medicaid and blocks them from getting preventive care at Planned Parenthood health centers.

Defend the Win: Protect the Clean Missouri Reforms!

In November, Missourians voted overwhelmingly for democracy reform by passing Amendment 1 with more than 60% of the vote. But lawmakers are already planning to overturn it and undo the will of the voters.

Today, the Missouri House voted to pass HJR 48, a measure that would undo Amendment 1’s fair redistricting process. Now, it goes to the Senate. Take action and urge your state senator to respect voters and protect Amendment 1!

Breaking: Congress Introduces Title X Protection to Safeguard Affordable Health Care for 4 Million People — including 38,000 Missourians — Against Trump’s Gag Rule

Today, U.S. House Democrats introduced a measure to protect Title X, the nation’s dedicated program for affordable birth control and reproductive health care, from the Trump-Pence administration’s illegal and unethical domestic gag rule. The “Title X Protection” makes clear that Congress is in charge of the Title X program and will not fund the Trump-Pence administration’s gag rule. Instead, Congress will only allow this funding to be used to carry out the program as it has been historically run for decades.

Title X helps 4 million people struggling to make ends meet –– the majority of whom are people of color, Hispanic, or Latino –– access birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing, and other essential reproductive health care.

Dr. Leana Wen, President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, issued this statement:

“The ‘Title X Protection’ will help ensure that women and families who don’t have health insurance, who live in rural areas, and who are struggling to make ends meet can still access birth control, STI testing, cancer screenings, and other essential care. It will ensure that doctors, nurses, and clinicians can continue to uphold our oath to provide the best care possible to our patients. Together, we must send a clear message to the Trump-Pence administration: health care must be a fundamental right for all –– not a privilege reserved for those who can afford it.”
