15 Anti-LGBT Bills Filed

Republican lawmakers in the State House and Senate have filed a record 15 bills targeting LGBTQ Missourians, and several have received hearings already. The bills include measures that undermine marriage equality, censor mentions of sexual orientation or gender identity in schools, and target transgender youth playing sports and receiving life-saving medical care.

PROMO, Missouri's statewide LGBTQ advocacy organization, and the ACLU of Missouri are leading the efforts to stop these bills and ensure all Missourians are protected under the law. Dozens of Missourians, including many young people, have come to Jefferson City to speak out against these bills, giving powerful testimony.

Planned Parenthood Advocates is proud to stand with PROMO and the ACLU of Missouri in opposing these bills and supporting LGBTQ Missourians no matter what.

Condom Crawl at Harris-Stowe State University!

Harris Stowe State University Generation Action Chapter Fellow Krysten Vaughn led a condom crawl on her campus! This event was a part of PPFA’s Shop Chats weekend of action. Krysten and five other HSSU Hornets began a campus-wide canvass at Henry Givens Administrative Building. They made their way around campus handing out safer sex kits and gathering "I Stand With Planned Parenthood" petitions. They wrapped up by putting free safer-sex kits in the Academic Resource Center and in dorm lobbies. Krysten said, "Students were thrilled to see us coming just in time for Mardi Gras celebrations!"

College Democrats of Missouri Spring Convention

On Saturday, Feb. 22, Kansas City Organizer Leslie Butsch presented to a room of thirty college student advocates from across the state at the University of Missouri — Kansas City about abortion stigma and the reproductive rights landscape in Missouri. The students asked important questions about connecting to common values when talking about abortion, and are working to shatter abortion stigma by normalizing abortion as health care.
