Hearing on Expanding Access to Long-Acting Reversible Contraception
Last Wednesday, the House Committee on Health and Mental Health held a hearing on House Bill 1499, which would expand access to long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) for thousands of Missourians annually. The measure would allow MO HealthNet patients to access new, unused LARC that have been “abandoned” by the original patient for whom it was prescribed. Committee members received HB 1499 positively and made suggestions for improvement. We are optimistic that HB 1499 will advance to the next stage of the legislative process.

Update: Missourians Speak Out Against Greitens' New Proposed Abortion Rules
More than 650 Missourians took action and submitted comments in opposition to Gov. Greitens' proposed new abortion rules. Even before the Legislature passed Senate Bill 5 during the governor's expensive special session, Missouri's abortion laws were some of the most restrictive in the nation. The proposed new rules to implement Senate Bill 5 have gone even further than the bill itself, adding reams of outrageous and medically unnecessary regulations on abortion providers in our state.
